CRECE team members in Puerto Rico collaborated with the Community Service Department at a local private school to launch a book drive campaign for cohort participants and their families from lower income communities. This campaign is an effort to not only provide books and resources to children in our cohort, but also to create a bridge of support between higher and lower income communities on the island. Boxes were strategically positioned around the campus and the response from students has been fantastic, with many books already collected. Team members will continue working on counting, inspecting, and dividing books into appropriate age categories. Although the aim was to collect books targeted towards children 0-4 years old, we have received many books for older children, which can also be donated to older children amongst the families of our cohort participants.
Thank you to our local CRECE Team Members for continuing to build community and support our cohorts within and outside the study.
